LENA'S THREE-MONTH UPDATE
by Mom
January 15, 2008

The Stats:
No weigh-in until her 4 month check-up, but her 0-3month outfits are getting snug and she can almost fit into her 3-6month outfits.  She’s also got some adorably chubby thighs!

Developments:
Lena is quite the engaging and entertaining conversationalist.  She is really quite talkative, and will carry on a whole conversation of coos and giggles and smiles and bubbles.  Her eyes are so alert and always checking out everything.  They are also starting to change color. They started out more of a grey than true-blue, but they are starting to get a hazel tint to them.  Eli’s turned almost violet before they went brown, so I wonder if hers will go hazel or brown.  She is also getting quite strong -- she can stand up just by holding on to two fingers for balance.

Adventures:
Lena started daycare!  The first week went pretty well.  She was reluctant to take her  bottles the first couple days, but finally relented once she got hungry enough and realized she didn’t have too many alternatives available.  At daycare she does a list of exercises and activities every day, like tummy time, listening to songs, reaching for toys, etc.  Eli likes to help drop her off in the baby room every morning before we take him upstairs to the preschool room.  He walks by the baby room during the day when he goes out to the playground, and says he tries to blow her a kiss but can never tell which baby is Lena.

Earlier this month Lena celebrated her first Christmas.  First we did an early Christmas at Nana & Grandpa’s house with Great Aunt Helen & Uncle Larry from Michigan.  A good time was had by all, and Aunt Helen knit Lena an adorable lavender hat with a pom-pom as well as a blanket.   Then we drove down to Chesapeake on Christmas Eve to visit Grandma & Grandpa Ed.  Lena did fine on the drive down, but we were stuck in miserable traffic and rain most of the six-hour trip home, and both kids had reached their limit about 30 miles south of home, so we ended up pulling into a McDonald’s parking lot to feed and change Lena and take Eli inside to use the bathroom.  Not the most fun Boxing Day in memory, but so it goes driving a couple hundred miles on two of the more congested stretches of highway in the Commonwealth with two kids.

Next month:  Lena’s first Superbowl party
